DUE TUES 7/26: Presentation on Artist
Choose one artist/group to present for next Tuesday’s class.

You will create a presentation on the work of an artist of your choosing that relates to the various themes introduced in the course. You are required to create a digital slide presentation using Powerpoint, Keynote, or another suitable program to accompany your talk. These can include text, images, or a combination. Please save as a PDF file copy as well, in case there are compatibility problems.

AT LEAST a minimum of 5 slides (images/video excerpt, etc)
5-10 minutes max. length of presentation

Some guidelines:
Please choose an artist that hasn’t been discussed in previous lecture. However, this can be flexible. If there’s an artist we’ve talked about that you’re particularly interested in, you may chose them, but make sure your talk covers aspects of their bio/work that we have not discussed.

Your artist doesn’t necessarily have to be directly influenced/ or in immediate dialogue with issues of sustainability, as long as you find an interesting way to contextualize their work within the interests of the class.

Come to class with a flashdrive containing your slideshow. You will have the beginning of class to upload and test your file.

Please come prepared for your talk. Test run your presentation beforehand so you have a good idea of its timing and will feel familiar with your information.

You are allowed a “script” to assist you, but please do not entirely rely on it for your talk.

Some prompts for research:

What aspects of sustainability and the overarching themes of our class are relevant to your artist’s work? What are the art historical precedents of their work?

Choose an artist that genuinely interests you, that relates to your own art interests, and/or the projects that you’ve developed in class. What comparisons can you make between their work and yours?

What are you personal insights about the artist/work? Don’t simply regurgitate info from your research.
